Shimmer
It is winter
And if you care to notice,
The naked branches brandish tight buds in their seemingly empty little fists
Where a canopy of generous colors had burst forth just a moon ago
Here I am at the river’s edge
Slipping fingers into an opening between rivulets
She graciously invites me to explore
Her
Cold against my skin
Or I should say
My body registers “cold”
Yet senses the welcoming
And that symphony of gurgling movement
She has so much to give
Her body and flow also exploring rocks
And the reaching branches that are so in love
They have grown towards her
In a perpetual arabesque
Spines bent
In offering
To her
As if they can’t ever get enough
And where they meet
Their kisses part her glass skin
Opening wide the gently warbled surface
Into beams of fractured liquid light
Holding
A pale blue wintry sky
And all the shimmering awakening of the morning
Celebrate
She sings and dances without apology
Today is a good day for noticing
For arriving with presence
With love that reaches and
Pours forth
Boundless
